Fler bilder från Brahehus

More pictures from an old ruin named "Brahehus" which means 'the house of Brahe'. It was orginially buildt by Per Brahe Jr with the intention to be used as a home for his future widow, Kristina Katarina Stenbock, but turned out to be more of a guesthouse in the end since she died the same year it was finished. It was built from 1637 and finished 1650, due to difficulties transporting rockstone up the steep mountainside. Unfortunately, a large fire in the neighbouring village "Uppgränna" spread and burnt 'Brahehus' down to the ground in 1708. The ruin has been restored recently. In the background you can see the deepest lake in Sweden - "Vättern", and you also drive by the ruin while travelling on the highest sited highway "E4" in Sweden. While travelling from Gothenburg to the city of "Norrköping" on the eastern side of Sweden, we took a break here, eating some pincic and enjoying the views a warm summers day.

And no, I am not great historian even though I love history. I used wikipedia ;-)
